Los Angeles Non Fiction
In the realm of contemporary art and photography, the city as subject matter often transcends its physicality, transforming into a space where identity, politics, and aesthetics converge. LA Non Fiction occupies this intersection, presenting Los Angeles not as a singular, cohesive entity, but as a fluid, ever-changing organism. Created between 2002 and 2010, this body of work situates itself within the tradition of urban photography, while simultaneously challenging the viewer’s preconceived notions of Los Angeles as a city of either grand spectacle or deep-seated alienation. The photographs in this series are not merely images of a city; they are reflections on perception, place, and time. The work navigates between the mundane and the extraordinary, the personal and the public, exploring the subtleties of everyday life within the metropolis.
